The role of the Community Advisory Board is to support the mission of the College by increasing awareness of health promotion and prevention strategies through community collaboration, fund raising and advocacy activities.

Larry Aldrich
Chairman of the Board
Chief Operating Officer for The C-Path Institute
The C-Path Institute is a non-profit research institute committed to developing safe, new medicines and is a General Partner at Tucson Ventures, L.L.C, an early stage venture capital fund. He has been and continues to be involved in local community issues and served as Chairman of the Greater Tucson Economic Council, Chairman of the Southern Arizona Leadership Council, and member of the University of Arizona Foundation. Aldrich also was an adjunct professor in the MIS Department at the Eller College in 1998 and 1999.

Bruce Ash
President of Paul Ash Management Company, LLC
Ash has been active in the Jewish community for several years and is the current Chairman of the Jewish Federation of Southern AZ. Ash also served as President of Handmaker Jewish Services for the Aging, and as President of Council House Incorporated. He has participated on several boards including: Yuma Community Bank, United Way of Tucson, Carondelet Foundation, and more.

Robert Guerrero
Office Chief at the Arizona Department of Health Services-Office of Border Health
Mr. Guerrero’s community involvement is extensive; he has served as President of the Tucson Hispanic Coalition, as Vice President for the Hispanic Professional Action Committee, as Co-Chair of the Arizona-Mexico Commission’s Health Services Committee, and more. His interest and expertise is with the U.S. Mexico border region, rural Southern Arizona, and Mexico.

Michael J. Harris
Associate Broker for Long Realty
Harris has twenty years experience as a CEO for two major health care organizations. Harris served as interim director of Pima County Health Department. He acted as chairman of the board of the Metropolitan Tucson Visitors and Convention Bureau and continues to serve as a board member for Tucson Airport Authority, Bank of Tucson, and DM50. Harris is a Member of the Institute of Certified Business Counselors and is a Senior Business Analyst.

Marilyn Heins, MD
Arizona Daily Star Columnist
Heins has written (since 1989) over 500 parenting columns for the Arizona Daily Star. Heins has served as Director of Pediatrics at Detroit Receiving Hospital and as Director of Project PRESCAD, a program that provides health services for medically indigent children. She was the Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Waynes State University School of Medicine and Vice Dean and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine where she is currently Senior Clinical Lecturer, Pediatrics.

Evelia Martinez
Sonora Investment Management
Martinez specializes in client relations at Sonora Investment Management. She has several years of marketing experience, specializing in business, health care services and international markets. Martinez is a member of the El Rio Health Clinic Foundation Board and the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

David A. McEvoy, JD
Attorney
McEvoy is an attorney with McEvoy, Daniels, and Darcy. He received his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor graduate degree from the University of Arizona. McEvoy is a past president of the Tucson Alumni Club and of the Arizona Alumni Association. He currently serves as a board member for the University of Arizona Foundation and is a trustee of the Arizona Theatre Company.

Lupita Murillo
KVOA Eyewitness News Reporter
Murillo is a general assignment reporter, specializing in crime reporting with KVOA Eyewitness News. She has earned recognition for her work including awards from the Arizona Press Club, United Press International, the Associated Press, and many community organizations. She has also been recognized nationally by the American Women in Radio and Television. Murillo is very involved in the community and gives her time to numerous organizations and charities, including: Las Familias, the Children’s Miracle Network, the People with AIDS Coalition of Tucson, and Concerned Media Professionals. She currently sits on the Governor’s Violence Against Women’s Commission.

Mercedes Sanchez
Founder, President, and Principal Consultant of Intravisions Consulting Network
Sanchez is also an instructor, marketing manager, and consultant at Dean Vesling & Associates in Tucson, AZ. Her client list includes IBM, Ohio Valley General Hospital, Baylor University Medical Center, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and more. Ms. Sanchez’ community service is diverse; she is the Co-chair for Digital’s Hispanic Leadership Group, a board member of the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children, and a mentor for Catalina High Magnet School, Youth at Risk Program.

Col. Scott Van Valkenburg, MD
Commander of the 355th Medical Group in the United States Air Force
Valkenburg held previous positions with the United States Air Force include Chief of Clinical Medicine, Chief of Medical Staff, and Chief of Pediatrics. He received his doctoral degree from the Wright State University School of Medicine and received a Master's in Business Administration from Old Dominion University.

Hank Walker
Partner in Andrade/Walker Consulting, LLC
Walker specializes in providing advisory and consulting services to executive leaders and Boards of Directors at Andrade/Walker Consulting, LLC . He has more than 25 years of senior leadership experience, including more than 12 years in the role of President/CEO for large, complex organizations. He successfully merged three health plans to create Health Partners of Arizona and led an successful operational turnaround of Tucson Medical Center, facilitating a fully integrated healthcare financing and delivery network in Southern Arizona.

Amy Zuckerman
Photographer
Zuckerman graduated from New York University with a B.F.A. in photography. Her photography has been collected and exhibited widely in the U.S., Africa, France and Mexico.  In Tucson, she has volunteered on many boards in the past such as Group for Photographic Intentions, Center for Creative Photography, UA Presents, T.R.O.T., and The Loft Theatre. She currently enjoys working on her 13-acre horse ranch and raising her daughter Talia Rose with her husband Morey.

Mel Zuckerman
Founder, Developer, and Chairman of the Board of Canyon Ranch
Zuckerman has earned recognition for his commitment to the University of Arizona including a Distinguished Citizen Award from University of Arizona Alumni Association and an Honorary Doctorate of Law Degree. In 2002, the Arizona College of Public Health was renamed the Mel and Enid Zuckerman Arizona College of Public Health in recognition of their important work as advocates of healthier lifestyles and disease prevention. He is a member of several University of Arizona boards, community, and national boards.
